"Born is the king of White Hart Lane..."

Tottenham and England's finest, at his finest. Sight and soundtrack, beautiful both...

Thems were the days, Le Coq Sportif team should have won far more

That volley against Manchester United is a perfect piece of art, isn't it?
Mind you, so is his last ever Spurs goal, the walk-through against Oxford...
And his debut England goal, sidefooted long-range into the net, after which Greenwood dropped Him for six months...
And that Watford backheel... And the rest...
Watchable, over and over and over again... The man is a woefully under-rated English idol...

Sigh... the greatest of my time, without a doubt. Sublime doesn't even get close. And I agree, unbelievably underrated, and not half the caps he should have had.

Hey - remember Alfie Conn?

Sadly, Alfie was a little before my time... Am an early-eighties-onwards kind of a fan...
Those heady days.
